I Think Facebook Just Seized Control Of The Internet!!

The opening keynote at Facebook’s f8 conference in San Francisco was short and sweet. But don’t let that fool you. It contained some huge announcements pertaining to how the service will interact with the broader web going forward. The three big ones: social plugins, Open Graph, and Open Graph API, make Facebook’s intentions very clear: they want to be the fabric of the web.

Erick already outlined Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s perspective on this from his keynote, but perhaps more interesting was some of what Platform Lead Bret Taylor had to say. The most interesting thing Taylor said was that Facebook’s stance is that social connections are going to be just as important going forward as hyperlinks have been for the web. Obviously, as the largest social network, Facebook to some degree has to believe (or at least say) that. But today, and really over the past several months of huge growth, Facebook has given us all a reason to believe that may be the case.

And if that’s so, Google had better watch out. There may be a new sheriff in web town.

Right off the bat, Zuckerberg rattled off some impressive numbers. While we all know that Facebook has over 400 million users (and it appears to be approaching 500 million rapidly), he also said that the service is growing at a faster rate than ever before. That’s fairly insane. He also noted that while it took the service 5 years to get to 100 million users, it took only 3 years to reach the same total in terms of mobile users. And in the past year, they seen that number grow 3x. Perhaps most impressive of all is that in just one year, Facebook got 100 million people using Facebook Connect. And that’s why everything they announced today has a real shot at completely transforming the web. Because everything they’ve announced (and specifically, Open Graph) seems to be like Facebook Connect on steroids.

All of this may sound grandiose and a bit frightening, but that’s why it’s ingenious the way Facebook is using Taylor. As he explained on stage today, Taylor used to work on a “small social network called FriendFeed” (which, of course, Facebook acquired last year). While he’s now a key member of Facebook’s team leading this new strategy, he used some of his keynote today to talk about his experience working on a startup with Facebook Connect.

He noted that at FriendFeed they found that the key to getting users to stick around and keep them using the site was that they had to connect with five friends. Unfortunately, when you’re a startup with not very many users, that’s extremely hard to do (yes, even just five). So FriendFeed implemented all types of logins and email contact lookups to try and help users find friends. The key to FriendFeed’s growth was Facebook Connect, as users were four times more likely to become engaged users if they signed up through that service, he said. In fact, if FriendFeed has continued on as an independent service, “we would have removed all those other signup buttons,” Taylor said. Yes, that includes Twitter and Google.

And lest you think his experience with Connect was all peachy, Taylor went on to explain that FriendFeed was constantly frustrated with how difficult Facebook Connect was to implement into their site. This is something that many developers have echoed over the past year. But with the new social plugins announced today, that all changes, Taylor promised. “I didn’t think the platform needed to be this complex,” he said. And now, apparently, it isn’t.

So that’s Taylor selling Facebook’s Open Graph to thousands of startups out there. And many are likely to bite. There’s no denying that social graphs are the key to a service being sticky, and there is no better social graph than Facebook’s.

Companies will have to choose whether to fight against this, and attempt to launch their own graph, or get in line. “When we connect our graphs together, the web is gonna get a whole lot better,” Zuckerberg promised.

Facebook launched some of this social plugin and Open Graph integration with several (30) large partners today. Just clicking around the web earlier, I ran into the new “like” button on CNN. It’s excellent; much better than the current share buttons which are slow and clunky in comparison.

Enough All Ready

Enough All Ready!

Have you had it with all the hype about the latest offers?

It seems that everyday we are inundated with offers to get in now before its too late! I think that some of these guys are incredible marketers (Ryan Deiss, Jeff Walker, Mike Filsame),. However i am getting a little frustrated with all he hype and scarcity mentallity.

The fact is if you want to be successful you need to work to achieve the results you desire. I admit that continual education is the way to go. However, without taking the action necessary “thanks Jonathon Budd, Eric Worre etc..) you will never get anywhere.

fact is success requires a continued dedication and diligence to succeed. You can do it just get off your hump and make it happen.

Are You A Social Media Spammer?

Social Media is all the rage these days with people promising wealth and fortunes around every bend.

Green eggs and ham or in Hawaii, green eggs and spam. One of the most irritating things about Social Media Marketing is the ever increasing amounts of spam being generated daily. It seems as though everyone has gone spam crazy…Join my opp..Once in a lifetime..Get in now while you can!

Give me a break! If the opportunity or product they are promoting is as good as they say. Then there should be no rush to get in now while you can. The fact is any business whether on-line, brick and mortar etc..takes work. A tremendous amount of work. Sure you can automate your marketing, set up systems to promote your business 24 hours a day.

However it requires you. That’s right you work hard…let me repeat that…you must work hard to be rewarded with much. Every successful business person or entrepreneur I know did not just fall on a successful business or find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. They worked hard on perfectly their business.

So what does this have to do with spam? Well spamming is the lazy man or womans (yes ladies you too) way of attempting to bypass the work required to succeed. You cannot puke..excuse me spam people all day long and expect them to take you seriously. Maybe they will seriously take you off their list!

Too succeed you must build relationships, provide true valuable information or products, be consistent and work hard. So the next time you want to promote Billy bob’s automatic wealth building system make sure you give valuable info..not spam.

By the way have I told you about the $1 road to riches. Ya ya put in $1 become a millionaire next week. lol :-)

Are You Stuck In A Crab Pot Boil?

The Mlm Success Network

Just what is a crab pot boil and how does it relate to those of us who are trying to succeed?

I heard an interesting story the other day from a friend of mine from the south. He was explaining the way that the crabs in a crab pot boil try to climb out of the pot to save themselves. However, as the lead crab or the top crab tries to escape. It is grabbed from below by the bottom crabs and pulled back to destruction in the boiling pot of water below.

Man does this descibe the same way that we can be dragged down by well meaning or not, friends family and others. It seems that just as you are about to make a breakthrough. Those who are not succeeding will grab your ideas, actions and thoughts and try to drag them down with them. you now the lines. It will never work. Other people have tried that before. It just can’t be done.

Well my friends. I beg to differ you are and can be all you set your mind to. I am not saying that we should step on the other crabs as we try to escapt the mediocrity of those stuck in the crab boil. However, to succeed we need to exert a tremendous amount of effort to save ourselves from this fate.

Let’s stop trying to pull each other into the fire. Instead let us gather our creative energies together and escape. Grab a couple of other people and climb up and over into the land of freedom and limitless opportunity outside.

Anyway gotta go the crabs are almost done.

Are Pay Per Click Classes A Scam?

Are The Guys Over At PPC Mastery A Scam! That is right, are the guys at the PPC Mastery Course scaming us or what? This was a question posed to me recently after the second of eight PPC Mastery Courses being conducted by the guys from 7 Figure Networkers.

This individual a fellow internet/network  marketer felt as though he had been ripped off or scammed for paying the $497 to attend the 8 week webinar course. He expressed that he felt as though maybe these guys (Jonathon Budd and Mark Hoverson) were just attempting to hawk their wares. Thats right maybe they were only interested in making a quick couple hundred thousand dollars from the 500+ people who signed up for the course.

There are no doubt a number of websites, Blogs, webinars, informercials, etc..  Promoting the newest lead generation system or latest marketing gimmick. That guarantees you with no work upfront instant success in the future. They offer eternal wealth for your opt-in information and a few dollars upfront. We have all been stung by the stinger of greed or the desire to receive pleasure or avoid pain. In essence looking for the easy way out.

I paused and reflected on my perception of the first two courses. Couse number #1 was presented by Jonathon and centered around setting up and organizing a Google Adwords account. The information was clear and effective and to the point. Nothing overwhelmingly amazing with the first presentation.

“Other than the fact that Jonathon had his entire Adwords Campaign open” so we could eaves drop on his back office. I would have paid the $497 for the information on how he laid out his ad campaigns.

Class #2 got off to a bang with Mark Hoverson teaching us the fundamentals of copywriting, conversion ratios and ad layout. How to use emotions and everday life to integrate your meassage or opportunity It seemed as though maybe, Mark was not as comfortable explaining his thoughts as jonathon was at first. However it was obvious mark feeds off the energy of the crowd.

Well I just finished class #3. Let me be the first to say the boat is a rocking and won’t be stopping. This time Mark was tuned up and firing on all cylinders. I was intrigued from the start. More information on the importance of monitoring your metrics. Conversion rations for opt-ins, sales pages etc.

I think I will share more of that exciting class with you on the next upcoming blog post. Looking forward to listening, learning and sharing the secrets of success.

There Is Nothing To Fear But Fear Itself!!

It seems that in todays down conomy our society is obsessed with fear or the expectation of failure. The unknown, the unexpected are these what cause us to fear? It seems in most situations we create our own fear. We choose not to learn, not to try, not to put out the effort to succeed. That way we are sure not to encounter fear and not to fail. I suggest what we fear is failure itself.

Lately, I have had numerous discussions with people inside the network marketing industry regarding the use of PPC advertising and its actual effectiveness. Many people claim it is too costly, time consuming and completely overwhelming. Well I can agree. It can be too costly if not monitored correctly (metrics, clicks, click thru, conversions etc..) It can be too time consuming to set up properly. Last, but not least it can be totally overwhelming.

Well we have an answer for all of these claims. The 8 week PPC Mastery Course we are currently undertaking with Jonathon Budd and Mark Hoverson. These guys help take the technicalities of PPC advertising and break them down into bite size components. That can in turn be easily digested by even the most technologically heartburn pronned individual.

The course helps you to understand the nuances of PPC advertising. Then implement them into your media campaigns (Social, Video, etc..) I have used PPC advertising in my various businesses for a few years now. However, even this old dog can learn some new tricks. If you are unsure of your ability to effectively use these technics to your advantage. Then spend the time to contact a mentor in the industry. Take the Google adwords videos and study them.

You will find that in time you will be like a raoaing lion devouring the prey of fear/failure.

To your massive success
